Julie Leung: Seedlings & Sprouts

Well I’m showing how much of a blog newbie I am, I made a comment on Julie’s blog and I somehow think there’s some easy way to show the comment I made here without having to type and copy and paste it.

Or maybe that method is now discouraged because of spam?

At any rate, I’ve been following Julie’s blog for a few months now. I find her writing very calming and yet thought provoking as well. It sometimes includes geek, tech and internet related topics but I see it mainly about life. She usually includes interesting pictures in her posts as well.

The Cellular Squirrel - Stefan Marti

So instead of an annoying ringing, vibrating cell phone you could have…. a squirrel!

Odd idea.

Here’s the page of videos for this idea:

And another article on this:

Kudos to MetaFilter for bringing this wonder to my attention.

“A Camping and Climbing I will Go…

….A camping and climbing I will go, Hi Ho the Dary Oh, A camping and climbing I will go…”

I only wish my shoulder wasn’t injured. I have a rotator cuff injury with tendonitis on top of it so says the Nurse Practioner I saw on Monday. I suspected something was up because it’s been hurting for months and didn’t get better even when I laid off climbing for awhile. But I’m going on this trip and will at least be out there in the wilderness again. I’ll probably do just 2 easy multipitch climbs that won’t take much upper body strength. I’m going to bring my camera along so I hope to come back with some great pics to share and hopefully some of good enough quality for me to sell as prints.

I may do some mobile blogging so we’ll see how it goes.

Mod a Prius: Experimental Hybrid Cars Get Up to 250 Mpg

Experimental Hybrid Cars Get Up to 250 Mpg - Yahoo! News

I don’t have a Prius but I think they’re a great idea. Even though the Prius, and the mod talked about in the article aren’t the perfect solution for the environment I think they are a step in the right direction.

On a selfish note, I’d like to see more Prius get sold so that eventually the price might come down on all hybrids to a level where I can afford an SUV type version of one (I need room to transport business and climbing/camping stuff).

The Public Domain Podcast - Free Audio Books

The Public Domain Podcast

This is my newest project. The Public Domain Podcast is a weekly show of entertaining works from the public domain read out loud. I will most likely get into appropriately tagged Creative Commons works as well. So far stories have been released every Sunday but I am thinking of changing that to a Monday release. The first three stories are from Edgar Allen Poe, Lafcadio Hearn and Mark Twain.
