A Demonstration of Ragdoll Physics

Filed under: Gaming / Tech, Internet

A Demonstration of Ragdoll Physics used in Battlefield 2 and other games. Or… is it a way to beat up on an ex girlfriend?

Though I find the demo rather disturbing (and others did too eventually) I suggested a clown and balloons version ;)

Another Bend in the Road

I’ve been officially laid off so you can add me to the California numbers. The story is that they laid off the graphic artists at work because they wanted to move production down to the downtown LA office (to save money) so technically I could’ve kept my job if I commuted there (ha!) and took their grave yard shift (ha!) but they offered us a separation package and we all (the graphics artists) took it.

So… we’ll see if I can cut it as a full time entreprenuer. I’ve been working my way towards that but was thinking more like doing in about a year from now. I’m taking this as a “sign” though — plus an opportunity has arisen in regards to my geek store so I’m going for it!

“I look back every few years and find myself somewhere where I would never have guessed I’d be.” - e

Well I said that in my sidebar and this is one of those times. Who would’ve thought that there’d come a time when I’d be earning the majority of my income based on the strange and eclectic hobbies and interests I’ve had as escapes from my “career path” ?

CNN/Money: TV Dad Salaries

I thought this was post worthy partly for the TV dad angle but also because it was interesting to see how close in salaries certain jobs were. For instance, Dan Conner, Roseanne’s Construction Worker dad ($38,202) compared to Family Ties dad, Steven Keaton as a Public TV Station manager ($40,713).

Chuck Lorre Productions Vanity Cards

LOL!

Ok, this guy is funny. His “vanity cards” appear briefly (for two seconds I believe) as part of the TV shows he’s involved with and just list his beliefs. Here’s an excerpt from his first “card”:

“Thank you for videotaping “Dharma & Greg” and freeze-framing on my vanity card. I’d like to take this opportunity to share with you some of my personal beliefs. I believe that everyone thinks they can write. This is not true. It is true, however, that everyone can direct.”

I know some industry friends who would get a kick out of that last line ;)

I’m a Google Fan and a Yahoo User

I recently got a Treo 600. I love it, absolutely love it!

I’ve been using it to surf the web lately and what I’ve found, once again, is that Yahoo has come through in the convenience department. While my Treo came with a webbrowser that can surf almost any page on the net, having a mobile optimized site, like Yahoo does, helps a lot in terms of load time. Having one touch buttons for choices is great too.

Now I can check my yahoo mail, find the local weather, and see my favorite theater’s movie times (complete with a movie synopsis) all from the Yahoo portal.

I’m a Google fan for search, Picasa, and some of their other services, but more and more I’m finding that Yahoo is pulling through for me in other areas of my internet life.
